Adrián Gonzalez, Quality Manager and Grower at Bio Algarobbo has been growing organic produce his whole life. His passion and enjoyment of working in the fields has stemmed from his family who work in the farming industry. His father founded Bio Algarobbo along with nine other farmers in 2007, with the shared value of wanting to sell healthy products. Bio Algarobbo has always grown organic, even without certification- its at the heart of what they do.
The company has grown to over 250 friends and neighbours from the same town and other organic farms in Malaga under another license who all produce for Bio Algarobbo as a collective. Bio Algarobbo produces 30+ products including but not limited to passionfruit, pumpkin, sweet potato, watermelon and mango. Mangoes in particular benefit from growing in the semitropical climate of the South of Spain, giving them the best taste. Organic farming is vital, and Bio Algarobbo wants to lead by example for other farmers to follow in their footsteps to adopt this approach.
Adrián’s satisfaction comes from observing the growth and development of pampering a tiny plant that grows into a large plant that provides you with food. Everyone who has tried their produce says it tastes amazing. Even without using fertilisers and pesticides they still farm successfully and it’s much healthier for the environment and the consumer. There’s a lot of difference with regards to conventional farming which relies heavily on lots of water and chemicals to grow produce. Bio Algarobbo crops have natural flavour with nothing extra added to them through the growing process, ensuring crops taste as they should.
